I won’t be getting any awards for quickness or efficiency when it comes to my decorating. It’s more of a molasses drip in the wintertime. It sort of just fades in the background and it not being done becomes normal. This wall in the boys’ room is complete now (though, I think I might swap out the top left picture for something else, and maybe do something slightly different with those ultrasound pictures (like this!! Obsessed with this shop!), but in Bridget-world, this is done! A+! One hundred percent! Probably, let’s be serious, won’t touch this wall again till the boys turn 18!). I was going to go a few different directions with it–wallpaper the back? Paint it an accent color? I ended up going the safest and most predictable route… that is, keeping it the same color as the room.
Making a case for the day date: Anju Noodle Bar + Lil’s.
The day date belongs in a category all its own. It feels like such an intelligent idea. “Aren’t we so smart! Shops are open for post-date browsing, we’re not falling asleep, and we have ample time to digest our food and libations before going to bed for the night.” A Sunday afternoon is practically begging for it. I put Anders down, and off we went, while the day was young.
weekend links.
We’ve had some spring weather this week, so we’ve been outside as much as possible. This is a little break we took from the playground for a snack. Can’t wait for more warm weather, more daylight hours, and… spring. Then, my favorite season comes…

The things I wish I bought in the aisles of Target but didn’t or else I’d be broke, volume 09.
3/8ths of the Hunt family in a Target family bathroom, what else is new? Anyway, spring has sprung at Target and with it there’s lots of chocolate bunnies, pastel colored hand towels, and all the gardening supplies your heart could desire. So, let’s dive in.
a little video for February.
There’s not a whole lot that makes me sleep peacefully at night than knowing I’ve successfully captured the funny little sounds, the goofy toddler gait, how much taller my teens are getting (William has his license. What.), and the little nothings and everythings that fill our days. (I will never capture it enough, but I’ll keep trying.) Those days that seem to run into each other, that change so slowly (but somehow swiftly at the same time) that you don’t really notice when suddenly things are not like they once were. I love getting videos of our travel and birthdays and things, but these ones that aren’t really highlighting anything in particular are probably my favorite.
(I’ve had a lot of how-to questions about these videos that maybe it’s time for me to make a post with screenshots that actually shows the process? It’s pretty simple, though so I’ll try to explain and see if that suffices: I take video with either my iPhone (in this case) or with my DSLR (nicer quality; like this video). Get all of those videos on your computer and then load them to iMovie. Piece it together in the order you want–you can do slow-mo, up the speed, cut clips to be shorter, etc. Add title pages, and a song, and then send it to Vimeo or Youtube, etc. and voila!)
DIY blackhead/whitehead pore-cleansing mask.
Almost daily, I get really close to the mirror, stare at my forehead, and then get to pick-pick-picking. It’s so satisfying but achieves nothing besides, probably, pushing dirt further down the pores that aren’t currently showing themselves as a blackhead. Right? I mean “they” always say not to pick, but does anyone actually listen to that? (I have gotten way better at simply putting some clay on zits that haven’t really surfaced yet and IT IS MAGIC.) So, while I’m not saying I have problem skin, I definitely have tiny blackheads, particularly in sort of the center of my forehead, and I really don’t love them? That’s not a question. I don’t love them.
Longing for and looking ahead.
weekend links.
Not one of my own pictures (I wish) but this image of the Faroe Islands is giving me peace. So serene. One amazing world which we’ve been given. Anyway, this weekend is a quiet one, and I’m looking forward to watching Lion again (but this time with the whole family; they must see it!) and then having an Oscars party on Sunday with some friends (our 4th annual, I think!). What are you up to?

hair, concerts, and strawberry pie.
I recently tried Living Proof (this shampoo and conditioner to be exact). In this picture, that’s all I have in my hair – air dried and then a few chunks curled with a curling iron. For not blowing it dry, and no product, this is some fairly good volume for me when it’s wintertime. I’m always surprised when it can be credited to simply the shampoo and conditioner. I always thought you needed products to do that. Anyway, good hair days are at a sad minimum when it’s winter… and when… you’re too lazy to do your hair? I’m crediting Living Proof to this happy surprise. I needed it too. Is anyone else just feeling sort of haggard lately? I mean under eye circles, and splotchy skin, and just overall… blah (filters slapped on the above photo help tremendously). Then, I read this thing about the rapid collagen depletion that begins from your mid-20s on and I’m like, “Awesome. Downhill from here.” I hope you know I’m writing this tongue-in-cheek–but only a little. GET AWAY FROM ME FINE LINES.
footprints in the snow.
Last week we got the most snow we’ve gotten all winter. How much? I’m not really sure; it was inches on top of inches on top of inches, a few storms. Snow days and delayed openings and now it’s 50s, and it’s all melting away. I like when it’s here, and I like when it goes. The allure of a fresh snow, clean and ready to be discovered, is a stark contrast to it’s dinginess a week (or better yet two or three) later.
