We’ve had a doozy of a week. I had just been talking to our EI specialist (who works with Anders once a week) about how it’d been a pretty healthy winter and then came March. Coughs, colds, ear infections, and then the stomach bug heard ’round the world. This was no ordinary stomach bug.

Just catching up on the latest while eating his eggs on the counter. Mornings with this guy are pretty sweet. What are you up to this weekend? Lindsey and I are going on a little mom-daughter date to get pedicures and see Beauty and the Beast (you’ve all said it was sooo good!). I’m excited. Also… she turns 15 next week! When. How.

what’s for dinner!
I love to cook a good meal but sometimes lack the creativity to come up with what that meal will be. Enter Blue Apron. I love that they take the guesswork out, and that I invariably end up learning something new. For instance, now when I pass that leafy bok choy at the grocery store, I know what it tastes like. And oven-baked fries are now a standard alongside our burgers. Those were both a part of past Blue Apron meals. Plus, remove the trip to the grocery store? Where do I sign up?Here I am doing my best Vanna White and holding the recipe card (I love that it’s got pictures. Cookbooks without pictures are not really cookbooks in my opinion. They’re just blindfolding you and sending you to the wolves.) See all of their recipes here. They’re awesome. (See the broccoli-cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches with fingerling potatoes? Mmm.)
ten things.
one / i used to take tap dance, and i still miss it to this day. if i ever come upon an adult class nearby that works with my schedule, i would totally love take it again.
two / i’m certain i am one of those women who will always miss/want a baby. it’s just in my makeup. realizing this was something of a comfort. i don’t think i’ll ever sit back and think, “done!”
three / i sometimes get super nostalgic for times of the past. this certainly isn’t news to any of you who’ve been here for more than… 24 hours. certain songs will do it to me too. recently baba o’reilly by the who came on and that song is soooo reminscent of high school cross country for me (i listened to it before every race). i wish i could revisit that time, just for awhile. (i’m one of those strange people who really loved high school.)
four / food writing is some of my absolute favorite kind of writing. fell in love with this book (and delancey too!) back in the day and i can’t stop. foodie blogs are my favorite too. do you have any reccs for me?!
five / the most i’ve ever seen a movie in the theatre is four times and it was, no surprise, titanic. i also had an enormous crush on leonardo dicaprio. after romeo and juliet i thought, in my teenage stupor, that there was a chance–and not even an incredibly slim one–that i could marry him.
six / another somewhat random celebrity crush i have is on jeff bridges. (the leonardo dicaprio one is pretty much over and done with now.)
seven / sometimes i wonder how long i’ll have this blog. another five years? ten? will blogging be obsolete one day? will my kids read this one day? (if they are now… hi! i love you guys!)
eight / i’ve been in three relationships in my life and all with men whose names start with S.
nine / the most beautiful place i’ve ever been is switzerland. it’s also where steve proposed! (and in changing my blog over from blogger to WP, somehow our engagement video didn’t transfer. still trying to figure that out and reload it!)
ten / i’m always afraid of offending people. i often will go over what i said in a conversation after i’ve left a place and then worry that a certain something might’ve possibly been misconstrued or offensive and then i’ll text the person to follow up with them about it. does this make me sound a little high strung? (if the shoe fits…) most often the person hardly remembers what i’m even texting about!

A quick getaway to North Conway, New Hampshire.
A little over two hours from home and we’re in the White Mountains. I’ve mostly just driven through them, and briefly at that, but always seen the green mass on a map and wanted to do further exploring. While this doesn’t quite suffice since we didn’t go trailblazing in the mid-20 degree weather, it’s clear that there’s so much exploring to do, so much beauty there.

Fresh out of the bath the other day. I sent this to my Mom and she noticed the “Carmody forehead,” lol. I love this sweet little boy. And those lips that I smooch a hundred times a day.
Weekend reading? Let’s go…
blizzard scenes.
{blizzard scenes looked something like this}
the top two houseplants that i can keep alive.
I’m not a total brown thumb, but I’m not totally a green thumb either. I’m something in between. I don’t think it’s as much lack of skill or genes (my mother is a plant-whisperer! Surely there’s some genetic component to this.) but more a mix between laziness and forgetfulness. Enter the plants that really thrive when forgetfulness is your strong suit.

Brothers helping brothers get outfitted correctly.
Making: this one-pot chicken chow mein (will report back!); I even bought this healthier (but still cheap! I think I bought two pkgs. for like $4.) ramen for it.
Drinking: water with lemon; two big mason jars full every day (at least). And I’m actually sticking with it for over a week now! (More on this riveting tale later.)
Reading: not much but listening to Serial, Season 1 – and loving it!
Wanting: this easy throw-on-all-the-time dress
Feeling: grateful for baby hugs; Anders is such a hugger. He really holds them, stays in the moment. It’s the best.
Smelling: these candles from a store nearby; they smell SO good. Moss + lichen might be my favorite? Hard to say. They’re all awesome.
Listening: this song; it’s so long (21 minutes) and relaxing. Listen, get in your zone, and thank me later.
Wishing: THAT WE WEREN’T GETTING A FOOT OF SNOW ON TUESDAY (I really lose patience with that sort of weather this late in the season).
Loving: good friends; they know who they are and they’re worth their weight in gold.
Watching: Girls, Big Little Lies, and This is Us (I’ve pretty much stopped watching Bachelor. What does this mean??!).

Heading back to our car last week after visiting with friends in Boston. It was such a blustery day, we nearly blew off the Commons (exaggeration). Really looking forward to walking these same streets in sandals in a few months (or maybe weeks? Maybe?!?). The temp is a high of 18 degrees on Saturday so… no. Our friend from Italy is visiting us this weekend, so we’ll stay warm and drink wine and talk lots. Not so bad!
