It may be fall but there’s not much of a chill in the air. In fact, the weather is unseasonably warm lately. I’ve heard this can ruin the potential for magnificent fall leaves–something about the cold nights being necessary for the colors changing, and we just haven’t had them. In fact, the other day I put Anders to bed in a diaper only. This is something typically only reserved for the summer months (and those nights when we don’t turn on the AC). But here it was, almost mid October, and he’s got the sweaty summer diapered-only body as he sleeps next to me.
Searching for quiet and some pumpkins.
I’ve been watching the NH fall foliage tracker like a senior watching his Bingo board. I’m in a very dedicated search of foliage and nature. Is it my old(er) age? The news lately? The pace of life? I just want to be in solitude in the worst way. The only thing standing in my way are very legitimate obstacles: school, Steve’s work. But I say only because they all feel secondary to breathing fresh air at the top of a mountain. It’s like my soul needs it. Did she just say that? Yes she did.

Today is Steve’s birthday! He’ll get his own whole post next week 🙂 This weekend our friend from Italy is in town so we’re just enjoying the slow down that a guest brings (especially this week–we needed it). And being a little bit like tourists in our own home. What a lovely time to be in New England! Seriously, the weather is perfection lately. Hope you guys have a good weekend.

80 degree bonus.
When life circumstances feel big, there’s something satisfying about being among things that are bigger. Things that keep on going, standing, moving, no matter what is going on with you or you or you. The ocean it keeps rolling in, and rolling out, day after day no matter what. This might all sound silly, but sitting there listening to it, watching it, it has a sort of calming effect. Everything is put into perspective.
italy! in video! a few months late!

This weekend my parents are coming up for a few days and my Dad requested a fire pit. Looking forward to one as the nights are chilly again! And the Hunts are still without a washing machine–going on two weeks! Argh. Hopefully early next week. In the meantime, I’ll be over here wearing dirty clothes. By the way, the above shoes are c/o one of my favorite companies, Nisolo! Check them out. Ethical company!

good in the midst of heavy.
01. the other day i went to a barre class that was like therapy. i always love going, but i had a lot of heavy stuff on my mind at this one in particular and it felt so good to push myself, loud music going, and get a great workout in. truly! like a therapy session.
5 (more) things about Steve.
Look at that flexibility! Those knees are straight, people! Such a savage. We’re back with one more Steve post and, after seeing the traffic on the last one (not even kidding!), I’m pretty sure we need to make this a more regular thing and that you guys are sick of my face. It’s ok, I’m not mad. Spotlight’s still mine again tomorrow. He doesn’t even know my WordPress password.

Cheers! It’s the weekend. We don’t have big plans–hanging out with some girl friends tonight, and then getting my washing machine fixed tomorrow (yikes–it showed an error message in the middle of a load earlier this week). Looking forward to doing very little but hanging around. And catching up on laundry. The weeks have been too busy. You?

IMAGINE.
You already know that we love children’s books in this house. I can never have too many (maybe that’s a problem… we’re overflowing with them!). And if those books have a good lesson in them? Even better. Today is International Peace Day and I’m working with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publishing house behind some of our absolute favorite children’s books ever (like Bill Peet!!!) to introduce their latest book IMAGINE. It is so wonderful and I’m excited to tell you about it.
