If I’m home for the rest of day, and it’s after like 3 pm, then the jeans (or whatever it is I’m wearing) come off, and sweats or pajamas go on. Like clockwork. Never mind that slippers are on the moment I wake up, walk in the door, whatever (we’re a shoes-off-in-the-house house), and I have my huge, plush robe on the moment I get out of bed till sometimes noon. Long story short, I’m a big believer in soft clothes that make you happy to put on and keep you warm. So, here’s a little round-up of my favorite pajamas and/or cozy clothes lately. I also happen to think a nice set of pajamas is an amazing Christmas present. No one really wants to spend much on pajamas for themselves but they end up being so well-used and so well-loved so it’s sort of the perfect gift to get instead. Can you tell I’m sort of passionate about this?

What are you guys up to this weekend, the calm before the storm? We’re doing very little–Steve’s got a conference in Boston that he’s busy with. So it probably looks like me parking it on the couch with a good show after getting kids to bed? A lot of you recommended Mindhunter (I think it might be too scary for me?), Poldark, Catastrophe, Alias Grace (just started it!), and Schitt’s Creek when I asked last weekend!
Now for some weekend reading…
lately.
Some of the Halloween festivities around our home! Steve and I went to a Halloween party complete with a scavenger hunt (all around town and doing it with him as tin man was hysterical. He remained so deadpan the entire time as people just sort of stared on like ‘what is up with this guy’; I love him.). Plus downtown trick or treating for the boys (and their friends!). Anders refused everything but his fireman hat. Oh well.
five things I’m loving right now.
01. This cookbook. I’ve already made an orecchiette with broccoli and sausage and also a baked chicken in a creamy tomato sauce from it and I’ve bookmarked at least five others. Very accessible, kid-friendly foods. I took a few pictures of the chicken one and am going to share it soon. It was so good and so easy.
02. These earrings for the holidays. Like, are you serious, Madewell? They are so dang cute and I love the way they hook onto the ear. They’d spice up even the most basic black turtleneck. (Side note: I bought these recently and they are so delicate and so lovely. Worn them every day recently. Like right now.)
03. The way Parker lifted up his pajama pant the other night in bed and said, “I’m six! And look at this!” Leg hair. I threatened to pull it off one by one so he’ll somehow stay small. We both laughed.
04. This movie and soundtrack. Free on Amazon Prime! It’s just a feel good funny movie with a good story. I think you’d enjoy it. Tell me if you watch it. And then you will definitely want to eat all the food.
05. The 1 Second Everyday App. As long as I remember to do it (sometimes a challenge), I think it will be so fun to have a little compilation of a whole year at the end. Anyone use this already?
my nightly skincare routine.
I’ve been a part of Beautycounter for a few months now and I’ve become a sponge soaking up every piece of information I can on their products, safer skincare, the CEO, and how far behind we are as a country (the last one doesn’t surprise me, but disappoints me; I’m naturally (or perhaps genetically; I have my Mom to thank for this.) a skeptic of the FDA, pharmaceutical companies, etc.). It’s been really fun getting to know the company and the products since August. So, if this is at all interesting to you, welcome to my bathroom. Otherwise, come back tomorrow for business as usual.

What are you guys up to this weekend? I’m having a few friends over for wine and cheese Saturday night and that’s about all! And ample loads of laundry. Maybe watching a new movie too. Any recommendations?
Some weekend reading…
Hats, hats, HAAAATS!
I’m a huge hat fan if for no other reason than the obvious: hiding a bad hair day. But they are definitely my favorite accessory, bad hair day or not. I find myself putting one on almost every day through the winter. (I live in the Boston area so a lot of this is for the basic necessity of WARMTH too.) I get a lot of questions on my beanies in particular so I’m here to compile a list of my favorites this year. And for the dilemma of bad hair once the hat comes off, I find that a little dry shampoo (at home before the hat goes on; not suggesting you travel with it) and fluffing it at the roots with your fingers once at your destination does wonders. Also, don’t be limited by women’s department for one. One of my favorites lately is the one I’m wearing here which is from the men’s department at H&M (found it here!). Same with for your children. I used to buy Parker and Anders from the women’s or men’s departments, and they’d just be a looser fit. The sky is the limit, people!!!
The things I wish I bought in the aisles of Target but didn’t or else I’d be broke, volume 11 (Chip and Jo edition).
Hey, what’s that? Not a selfie in the Target family bathroom with little ones in tow??? That’s right. I skirted out at 8 pm last night to after getting the kids to bed and was at Target by myself. You’d have thought that was heavenly but when I passed by the toys, I actually sort of missed them. Anyway, here I am, dressed to the NINES, to take a gander at the latest Chip and Jo goodies. Let’s go!
Getting ready for the holidays!
It’s November! Are you listening to Christmas music already? A wait till after Thanksgiving person? A “I’m sick of this debate entirely and don’t give AF what you do?!” person? I get it, all of it. I’m trying to be ahead of the game, at least when it comes to outfitting you for your Christmas party. The things I do for you! This outfit jumped out at me (it’s a jumpsuit, get it? God I’m good.) when I saw it online because red! jumpsuit! that neckline! that lace! those bows on the waist!

Today we’re finally celebrating Halloween with trick-or-treating. There were some power outages, and downed trees due to a recent storm so that part of the day was postponed. I’d also love to sneak away for a date with Steve. We’ll see. Have a good weekend wherever you are, whatever you do! Maybe you’ll even get to eat some pizza wider than your face like Anders.
