it’s sara from bonzo, chooch and me again… hi!
so you know those coffee house muffins that are super moist and sweet? the ones that are pretty much cupcakes without frosting?
yeah. these aren’t those. just to put that out there right away.
these are healthy and maybe a pinch earthy, as choo choo would say.
but they’re also really good, promise – as long as you’re not expecting cake, you know?
these are best warm, slathered in a generous amount of butter or coconut oil – what isn’t?
but seriously, a nice smear of super healthy pasture butter or organic coconut oil takes these to a new level in both taste and healthiness. win win.
you’ll need:
1/4 c. agave nectar
1/4 c. + 1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. canned organic pumpkin puree (or dude, homemade puree if you’re feeling it.)
1/2 c. organic apple sauce
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. flour – i use 1/2 c. of each: almond flour/meal, spelt flour, coconut flour, all purpose flour. use what you’ve got, just make it equal two cups.
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1 tbsp. each: chia seeds, flax seeds and hemp seeds, ground. i love my grinder. the seeds up the nutrition. you can use some or none – whatever works.
optional: a handful of raisins. a small handful of walnuts, ground. a pinch of pepitas, ground – or not.
• preheat oven to 350º
• cream butter and agave nectar in standing mixer or using a handheld mixer
• add pumpkin puree and apple sauce
• beat in eggs one at a time, add vanilla
• in separate bowl, sift the flour, spices, salt, baking powder/soda
• add sifted flour and spices to pumpkin mix one scoop at a time until blended
• add ground seeds and walnuts, if using
• add raisins, if using
• scoop mixture into greased muffin pan
• sprinkle tops with a pinch of ground pepitas (best for little eaters) or whole pepitas if not.
• bake for 25-ish minutes until golden – you know.
• cool, slather with butter or coconut oil and enjoy!
hi guys! i’m turning the blog reigns over to my friend sara today + tomorrow while my inlaws are in town. she is awesome and is a huge source of wisdom to me. seriously, check out her blog. girlfriend’s smart. and cool. and cute. bam! take it away, sara!

i’m sara of bonzo, chooch and me and i’m super stoked to post over here on bridget’s blog today. so, hi and thanks for reading!
since fall is in full swing (hello, october!) i thought it’d be cool to do a little round-up of all the things that’ll be keeping bonzo cozy in the cooler weather. and maybe give bridget a glimpse into her future – it won’t be long until parker’s two, stomping in puddles and running around looking like a little dude.
bonzo’s a california guy. no snow-suits and ear muffs here. but since it actually does get chilly in santa barbara we have to – scratch that, get to – stock up on some cool digs to keep warm:
1. cozy hoody: can’t you feel the coze just by looking at it? it’s on order and i’m already excited to bundle the bonz up in it.
2. rain boots: for puddle stomping, obvs. or playing in the living room. bonz doesn’t require a rainy day for rain boots.
3 & 4: long sleeved tees: these two are on our wishlist. bonz can pretty much always use shirts and ones with a vintage racecar theme? forget about it. slam-dunk. if they came in daddy-size bonz and chooch would be twins.
5. slip on vans: essential old school california cool.
6. tee shirt: we get our very favorite tees from peek.
7. overalls: these are so cute. classic railroad stripes, perfectly soft and worn-in looking. i stood there in target thinking about it for longer than i should admit – wondering if bonzo was an overalls-kinda-guy or not. but then, hello: $17?! done and done.
8. jersey lined jeans: now these i can sign off on. bonzo’s a lean little machine. he’s outgrown the length of every pair of pants he’s ever owned before he’s even come close to even fitting the width. so to find a pair that fit him in both the length and width? we’ll take two. these are still in the baby size range: 18-24 months. but oddly, he’s got enough length in these to last him a good long while. and they’re pull-on with a cotton and elastic waistband and are lined in cotton jersey. comfs.
9. ugg boots: we live in santa barbara, california. they’re a rite of passage. not to mention adorable on his sweet feet.
10. jammies: bonz spends his days dressed like a little dude – he is a little dude, after all – but i love that he looks like a baby at bedtime. these jammies completely rule.
11. comfy pants: duh.
12. why the knitting needles? it’s beanie knitting season! little noggins mean quick results. and nothing’s more satisfying than making something that keeps my guy toasty.
i’ll be here again tomorrow… stop by, okay?
