this experience was craaaaazy to say the least. let’s start at the beginning: steve, parker, and i began the day at the crack of dawn and with a boston blizzard. luckily we made it to the airport in time (despite being stuck behind many a snow-plow on the highway!) and our plane actually took off. it was nerve-wracking, but all was well! we were airborne!
i knew before going that there’d be some filming happening. i had noooo idea it would be as extensive as it was. as soon as we got off the plane, like any good mom, i begin to change parker’s diaper, use the ‘ol hand sanitizer (airplanes! gross!), go to the bathroom… but, ding! ding! ding! i get a text, and then another. “bridget, this is josh from plan a film, we’re at the bottom of the escalator ready to film.” or something like that. SAY WHAT? (yes, didn’t you know? this is me. OOOOOR NO.) had i known, i might’ve done a little more primping of myself? a least a little lip gloss? maybe run a brush through my mane? come on bridge. this will most likely be your one and only camera-debut and YOU SCREWED IT UP.
just kidding, but not really.
so, the filming promptly began {plan a! those guys are GOOD.}. we’re talking microphones, multiple cameras, cameramen, etc. i wanted to shout at passersby who were staring, “I AM A NOBODY. JUST A BLOGGER. I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT S.E.O. MEANS. I CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHANGE MY BLOG TITLE FONT. NOTHING TO SEE HERE.” i figured, enjoy it while it lasts! cause it’s straight on back to the daily grind of motherhood tomorrow.
it was really so much fun. meeting the other bloggers, hanging with the team at VML, plan a, and wendy’s – all such nice people, really – having a fancy dinner… with cameras all around (i joked with victoria that this is what they must feel like on the bachelor. and which is another reason the wine is kept a-floooooowin’). i got to see the inner workings of the wendy’s headquarters, talk about how long it takes to get a product on the menu (we’re talking 1000+ taste testers, panels, blind taste tests, etc.!), how they’re trying to meet the needs of the time and offer healthier options. i saw a wendy’s concept store {pictured below – wendy’s steppin’ it up!}, and finished the trip off with a frosty.
done and done.
in conclusion, i was thoroughly impressed by every bit of the experience. the way they treated us, the cleanliness of their headquarters, kitchens, the concept store, the amount of work and time and taste that goes into new products, how much they listen to the consumer. it was a really cool opportunity. thanks to all who made it possible!!!
also, you’ve got until may 12 to tweet a pic of the sandwich to @wendys using the hashtag #twEATfor1k – you can win $1000… per day!
{and thanks to you folks who’ve emailed me/tweeted me pictures of yourselves eating the sandwich. i have loved ’em!}
{you can read the other bloggers’ behind-the-scenes posts + pictures here: victoria + casey – and i don’t think mel has done hers yet!}
this post is sponsored by wendy’s. all opinions are my own.

This is awesome! I'm a sucker for all things behind the scenes.
I once did a commercial for Canon, and it was no where as organized as this one. I can't wait to see it on TV!

You're a baller. Whenever a Wendy's commercial comes on, I tell Mike, "That's Bridget's sandwich."

THE DILL!!!!
and yeah, i pretty much think of you whenever i see the wendy's commercials 🙂 i doubt it's the case but i subconsciously think.. 'oh that's most likely based on bridget.. yeah, it probably is' or 'oh yeah, they probably adapted that mom with a stroller from their interactions with bridget because she has a stroller..makes sense.'
and then!! then my husband went to a wedding in the middle of who knows where in the midwest and he said he couldn't find one healthy option for himself (the man wanted an actually-red tomato or some lettuce, not too much to ask, right!?) and of course to that i say, well wendy's has those flatbread sandwiches. you should find a wendy's! he couldn't find one but i have a guess and a hope that those tomatoes would've been bright brick red!
🙂

@dancing branflake, i don't think it'll be on TV 🙁 it was more a youtube/internet thing!
@e, i want MIKE to say 'that's bridget's sandwich'
@caseyann, you're making me LOL here. that stroller comment makes perfect sense.

Did you already know Casey Wiegand before the trip? When you did your first Wendy's post, I saw you already had her listed as a sponsor and wondered if you were already friends. Just curious!
bridget says
@camille, i am tall! 5'10"! you?
@rachel s, just through blogging! we'd exchanged some emails and such… it was so great to meet her in person!

That is so cool! What an awesome experience. I have to say Wendy's has improved a lot from what I remember and I have to say that sandwich looks yummy. You're a super star now!

Haha! I laughed so hard when I clicked that link to the dill pickle. You're hilarious. And oh my goodness, I couldn't tell at all that you were caught off guard by their cameras right off the plane. You looked amazing and are so chill on camera. A total natural!

I just found your blog yesterday and after reading your love story, I was hooked. I live in Japan with my soldier husband and Wendy's is at the top of my list of things I miss about America! They just recently opened a Wendy's in Tokyo but it's a solid 2 hours from my house, so I've only made the journey once. Now I'm considering making the journey again…SOON!
