01. i made a whole playlist of YOUR favorite songs (after crowd-sourcing on instagram a few weeks back)! and it’s on spotify! give it a listen. and if you didn’t get to add your song to the list, watch my stories, because i’ll have another chance to add yours to the list today. (a few random ones, spotify didn’t have in case you don’t see yours–but nearly every single song is there!)
02. anders’ imaginary play in the morning is one of my favorite things ever. he stands by the train table making plane sounds, crashing, narrating different characters’ voices, and is entirely in his own world. it often blends into the background noise but when i take a moment to really listen to him, it is so completely adorable.
03. i’m more and more into classic pieces that i will wear forever. these are the kind of pieces i keep reaching for day after day that aren’t terribly trendy, but are timeless. (i’m finding the same goes for my kids. basics, some stripes mixed in, and i keep going for the same things.) with a few great pieces like that, i don’t feel the need to shop much, because they’re so versatile. everlane’s clothes–practically the entire website–is full of these types of pieces. i absolutely love this top (if you watch my stories, you’ve seen me wear it a lot since receiving!), and these jeans are the best color. finally, these gorgeous shoes are the best shape and such a great color. finally, their ethics–from the true cost breakdown, to the ethical factories they choose to manufacture their clothes–makes me feel good supporting them. thank you everlane for these gorgeous pieces! (p.s. my friend came over in this top the other day and it was sooo beautiful.)
04. my amazon storefront is pretty well updated now with some of the things i’ve loved and used this summer, from books i’ve read, to shampoo and conditioner. i would still highly recommend your library over buying books though, but you can see some of my favorites for ideas if you’re in need. i’m trying to utilize my library as much as possible (their online reservation system is the best). the boys and i are reading this at night right now. the illustrations are beautiful. and, reporting back on tale of desperaux–it never grabbed the boys, so we’ve sort of given up on it (after getting well into the second half. though i still love her as an author!).
05. you know i love legit tent camping but i saw this go past on instagram recently and was very intrigued. looks like such a cool idea. anything to get people outside more — especially for those who might not be up for all-the-equipment-and-work camping trips. p.s. camping gear post i talked about ages ago is STILL coming. (p.s. huttopia is also an amazing option!! we loved it.)
06. i made this recently and it was really delicious. don’t skip the jalapeno ranch cabbage!
07. i’m not ready for summer to end. not even a little bit. but i am thinking about hikes in the white mountains this fall already. gotta cushion the summer-ending blow with something to look forward to. if you’re a local, would you tell me your favorites? (here’s one we loved, and another!)
08. definitely making this soon (today). i was actually thinking about zucchini bread (random) and this popped up. deb is a mind-reader.
09. i finally got a smooshable, packable straw hat that has a wide enough brim to provide decent coverage. spoiler alert: i love it! a lot.
10. let’s all do one thing on this website. just one thing. something has to change. i just put in my email and zipcode to volunteer for a local chapter.

I appreciate you providing an action step with regard to gun violence. I don’t want to be overwhelmed by the feeling of disempowerment but I often do. The continual, needless loss of life can feel devastating. Yes? You helped with this today. Something concrete that I can DO with hopes of creating change. Thank you so much!

and thank YOU so much for taking one!

A couple weeks ago we hiked mt. Pierce and camped at Nauman tent site. There is also a hut next to the tent site called Mizpah hut. So beautiful. My 5 year old hiked himself and my husband carried our 2 yr old in the hiking backpack. Think we’ll probably wait to do again when our youngest is 5 so he can handle the hike himself.

Yes! Thank you so much for including the Moms Demand Action Link. If you want to do something now, but can’t make it to a meeting, you can text CHECKS to 64433. You will be connected to your US Senator. If they are supportive of common sense gun legislation, please thank them and ask them to continue to make it a priority. If they are not supportive, tell them as a constituent you want them to support background checks on every gun sale and red flag laws. XO
