It was a rough start to the day when Anders woke up, kicking and screeching, at around 5:45 am. While that’s not the ungodliest baby-waking hour, it is a full hour before this little dude’s slumber usually ends, so… no thanks, Anders? Can I make a request that we push it back to 7 am again? Plus, like the fool that I am, I’ve been staying up way too late these days getting work done when the house is finally quiet. But, like all mornings, the promise of coffee with a generous helping of cream helps me get out of bed, but then I remembered.
Coffee ground jar empty.
I put Anders in the car seat, and shuffled to the driver’s seat to get to the nearest Dunkin Donuts for coffee. Two hot hazelnut coffees, extra cream. One medium, one small. By the time we got back, Steve and Parker were awake. I walked in with the coffees stacked in one hand (rookie mistake), Anders in another arm. Twenty feet inside the door, he reached out his Stretch Armstrong hand and knocked the top coffee off. I ninja-protected him, but sacrificed the coffee. (Not to worry. My extra creamy coffee is never very hot anyway.) I watched the puddle form below me, considered lapping it up, but skipped it in favor of a glass of water and some sips of Steve’s medium. Good start to the morning.
The days lately are really full, really scheduled. We came back from New Jersey and hit the ground running. I’m referring to our pace as frenetic. We’re basically trying to fit in the next few weeks what we would normally do in three months’ time. Physicals! Mole removals (Mole removal makes me squeamish.)! Dentist cleanings! Orthodontist appointments! Get kids’ schooling in order!
So you can see how the morning coffee is necessary.
It’s stupid, isn’t it? That life can be frenetic. That my life, so many of our lives, is a series of lists that need to be completed. It should be simpler than this, shouldn’t it?
I tried to make an appointment for the dermatologist (mole removed, and wart too but do we really need to talk about warts?). They wanted a consult, before the actual removal took place. Then, the dermatologist’s office had to get a referral from my PCP. And my PCP requested an appointment before they could give me a referral.
So you can see how life gets frenetic.
(Three potential appointments to get two things removed! I mean! But, I didn’t actually end up requiring all three. Instead my dermatologist just did me the favor of a quick removal and wart-freeze and here we are talking about warts again.)
Later that day I had a dentist cleaning so really the day began with a spilled coffee and ended with clean teether teeth than it began.
The moral here is that when life gets frenetic, coffee is a necessity but let’s all make an effort to not let it get so frenetic. And not to spill our coffee when it does.

Highly recommend using tea tree oil on the wart!! I had one on my foot for almost 10 years… had it burned off, cut out, everything.. and it never went away. Finally started using tea tree oil on it twice a day for a few weeks and it went away. Much less expensive and much less painful than the dermatologist!

And when life gets frenetic, just remember how blessed you are! A beautiful family and an awesome vacation ahead of you! I don't think Europe cares if your teeth are clean 🙂

Duct tape! I had a pesky wart YEARS ago. I finally just wrapped duct tape around my thumb (and then a band-aid over that…because…duct tape!) and I haven't seen it since!
